On average, clothing factories leave a staggering 40% of their fabrics as waste. Thankfully Cambodian clothing brand tonlé has proved that one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure. The design team at tonlé often visits the remnant material markets, where factory scraps are piled up before they go to landfills. The still usable fabric is then manufactured into new clothes. And they don’t stop there. Their own scraps are worked into new (now twice-recycled) fabric as well. The result? Virtually no waste, and a lovely, easy-going collection to boot. When it comes to recycling, tonlé is queen!
